Legacy

Yes, I think one of my favourite words is Legacy.  I have 24 children this year. That is the reality of being a teacher. God has entrusted me with these children for one year and I'm blessed to have that opportunity. Whether I'm investing into my students or future children/ grandchildren, there is a legacy I'd like to leave for them. I'd like them to know Jesus intimately, to live for eternity, fight for justice, share the gospel and radiate true beauty. I'd like them to pick up the keys to the kingdom, I'd tell them that God has given them these keys when they accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour and were made a new creation. Now go into all the nations, sharing the gospel with others so that others can be alive with Him for all of eternity.

The other day, I was at a meeting and the question was something like "what do you most want in life".  Most of the answers around the table were "to be happy".  This is fine and it's pretty much what we all want but what does it look like to leave a legacy that the next generation can carry on after we've  left. That looks like justice and for example being part of helping women out of modern day slavery. That looks like teaching about true beauty - true beauty is being who God made you and letting God radiate through you.  In this life we will go through very hard times. Will we still be happy when going through such things? What about people that sacrifice their lives for others. Were they thinking about being happy or about something greater than themselves?

The answer has got to be bigger. It's got to be eternal and it's got to continue after us. If not, it's too small.
When I was 10 years old, my Father passed away of cancer. My eyes were opened: this life is short! Eternity is forever!  My prayer is that God would continue to teach me and the church about living a life w Jesus at the center, a kingdom mindset and reminding people that leaving a legacy of knowing God and living for His Kingdom and eternity, is the only thing that lasts.  So rock out for His kingdom future grandkids and see you in eternity one day!
